Open House for Public Comment: Wikman Bldg

Foster area businesses and friends,
We will have a short discussion of a possible use for this building at the Foster Area luncheon on November 9th, however, since that is after the comment period, you might want to check it out at this open house:

Multnomah County and District 3 Commissioner Judy Shiprack will host an open house as part of a public process to solicit potential new uses for the Wikman Building, a Southeast Portland landmark that has been declared surplus by the County. This is NOT a sales offering.

The open house will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

It will be held at the Wikman Building, a former Carnegie Library (known as the Arleta Library) at Southeast 64th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.

The 5,200-square-foot building served most recently as a service center for county juvenile justice programs. It’s 93 years old and was designed by noted Portland architect Folger Johnson.

The event will allow access to the building interior to better inform public comment. The public comment period will remain open until Monday, Nov. 7. County staff will report back to the Board of County Commissioners by Dec. 22.

Chair Auction

We are seeking artists and inspired folks that may want to adorn or artify chairs that have been donated. A silent auction event will take place leading into FABA’s December Annual Meeting, with proceeds to benefit Foster Area Business Association. The theme is wide open, but the main purpose is to promote Fo-Po artists and businesses, and generate funds for ongoing arts activities.
